It’s also naturally resistant to scratches and cuts. - Easy to maintain: Unlike, say, wood or laminate, granite is 100% stain-resistant as long as it’s been properly sealed, and is also naturally resistant to damage from harsh chemicals. - Sealing: As mentioned above, granite is stain-proof and easy to maintain — if it’s properly sealed. We will, of course, do this as part of the process, but be aware that the sealer won’t maintain its effectiveness indefinitely. Fortunately, it shouldn’t require resealing for about 10 years, and when that time does come it’s a simple enough matter to acquire the sealer and do it yourself.
- Seams: Part of the beauty of a granite countertop lies in appearing to be carved smoothly from a single large piece of rock, but in reality your countertops will likely be made up of several slabs; consequently, there will be a few seams of around 1/8 inch in thickness. Don’t worry, though; we will work with you to make these as invisible as possible.
- Color choice: One thing you do sacrifice with granite versus other types of materials is the ability to choose from a wide range of colors and patterns. But we’re confident that this natural beauty more than makes up for that lack of choice, and we’ll work with you to find a look you love within the bounds of what nature makes possible.
